It's (almost!) Midsummer's Eve – the sun is setting late, the air is warm, and your garden is at its most beautiful. The perfect time to dine al fresco at a beautifully set summer table. In this blog post, you'll discover how to create a cozy and inviting summer table with simple ingredients, ideal for a garden party or a cozy evening with friends and family.
Let your garden speak
You don't need much decoration outdoors: let the colors and scents of your summer garden do the talking. Set a large garden table outside or bring an extra table from inside if you're expecting a lot of guests. For children, you can add an extra bench or chairs if there's not enough room at the table.
Summer-style table decoration
- Tablecloths in fresh colors instantly create a cozy atmosphere. Think pastel shades or natural linen fabrics.
- Use woven water hyacinth placemats and floral napkins to enhance the outdoorsy feel.
- Place a row of vases of varying heights on the table, filled with wildflowers from your own garden, such as lady's mantle, daisies, or cow parsley. Budget-friendly and stylish!

Creative table setting
- Use colored glasses, colorful tableware and bowls for an extra summery look.
- Fill the table with summer fruits! Wild peaches or lemons will instantly give your table a summery feel!
- Write your guests' names on dried bay leaves and stick them into a lemon or other fruit with a cocktail stick.
- Roll or fold your (linen!) napkins and tie a sprig of fresh herbs or a flower around them with jute twine.

Comfort & atmosphere
- In warm weather, provide parasols or atmospheric shade cloths. Tip: a tablecloth can also serve as a stylish backdrop ;)
- For the evening: place (lots of!) tea lights, garden torches or a fire basket for warmth and extra atmosphere.

Serve summer dishes
Large bowls of summer salads, fresh fruit, and light snacks complete your summer table. Think watermelon, strawberries, pasta salads (pasta vongole is a summer evening favorite here!), or fresh couscous. Beautiful salad servers or pasta spoons complete the look!

Tip for wind
Use tablecloth clips or weights to keep your tablecloth in place. You can also place stones at the bottom of the vases to prevent them from blowing over.
